My fave books I read in 2019

My top ten for this year! I am finding the more I read the more I am reading WIDER. Even five years ago I would have never picked up a graphic novel like Persepolis, for example.

Other thoughts:

  1. How have I not read Julia Quinn in years? She’s a treasure.

  2. I did not need a bookmark for the Helen Hoang book. Just buzzed right through it like it was on fire.

  3. Burial Rites is taut and moody and amazing, kind of like Alias Grace set in Iceland. Lots of Tess Durbeyfield vibes too, which are my jam.

  4. The parts in Less where he’s trying to speak German are worth the price of the book alone.

  5. The Weight of Ink is an ACHIEVEMENT just as much as it is a BOOK. I cannot imagine the scholarship and planning that went into it.

  6. It was so hard to pick just ten. I read so many wonderful books this year.
